2022 Mother’s Day Tributes
Mothers are the women that posture themselves—or are postured—to actively occupy a relational bond with another person. This bond is not limited to a biological connection but can be established by mutual regard and respect for someone’s well-being. This role carries a responsibility whose extent and weight vary and is juxtaposed to those she mothers.
We, the recipients of their effort, understand that a mother’s role comes with no instruction manual to guide, so each woman is doing the best that she can according to the cards in her hands. It is not our job to pass judgement on things we do not agree with or allow our experiences to overshadow our mother’s humanity. It is, however, our job to find inner peace with those things, cultivate empathy from our own shortcomings, and extend our mothers grace.
In correlation with the traditions of this day, we acknowledge you with these few words of appreciation. Regardless of how you became our mothers or mother-figures, we say ‘Thank You’ for your efforts. Thank you for your regard. And thank you for your love. We honor you.
