The local community and ISO Joe supporters gathered on Sunday, March 23, to celebrate Team Iso Joe’s basketball season opener with a special meet-and-greet social, bringing together young athletes, fans, and basketball enthusiasts for an evening of inspiration and connection.
Team Iso Joe is a Nike Elite Youth Basketball program founded by former Arkansas Razorback and seven-time NBA All-Star Joe Johnson. The event was a collaboration with his ISO Foundation, which aims to empower youth through basketball and wellness.
Attendees enjoyed a lively atmosphere with music provided by DJ Ronald Daniel, setting the perfect tone for the evening. Adding to the experience, guests sipped on handcrafted mocktails by Sippy Sales Bar Catering, including the ISO Breeze, a refreshing tropical drink, and Three Point Tea, a peach raspberry tea blend.
After mingling and taking photos with Joe Johnson, guests participated in an intimate Q&A session moderated by Dr. Brian McGee. Johnson reflected on his extensive and successful 17-year NBA career, sharing insights into his journey. He spoke about growing up in Little Rock, Arkansas, with a mother who worked graveyard shifts as a registered nurse, emphasizing how her dedication inspired his strong work ethic. Johnson then discussed his time with the Arkansas Razorbacks, playing under legendary coach Nolan Richardson.
Throughout the session, he shared valuable advice on achieving basketball success—not only through hard work and long hours in the gym but also by prioritizing recovery and nutrition. His words resonated with the young aspiring players in attendance, offering them guidance both on and off the court.
With an exciting season ahead for Team ISO Joe, the event served as the perfect kickoff, uniting the community in celebration of basketball, mentorship, and the power of perseverance.
